Jim Stone is a lifelong advocate for scientific literacy and environmental stewardship, with over 40 years of leadership experience in education, nonprofit management, and public outreach. He has held executive roles at prominent institutions such as Mystic Aquarium, the San Diego Natural History Museum, and the Elementary Institute of Science, where he spearheaded programs that broadened access to STEM education and fostered a love of science in learners of all ages.
Now retired, Jim channels his passion for nature and education into Mountain Bird Expeditions, a boutique ecotourism venture offering customized bird-watching tours in the San Bernardino Mountains. Through these tours, Jim shares his deep knowledge of the natural world, inspiring participants to connect with and care for their environment.
As a member of the Kid Spark Education board, Jim brings his expertise in program design, nonprofit leadership, and environmental advocacy to support the organization’s mission of ensuring all children have access to high-quality STEM education. A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University and the University of San Diego, Jim continues to dedicate his life to fostering curiosity and stewardship in communities nationwide.
