Elementary Program

STEM Program Curriculum

The Kid Spark STEM program curriculum is designed to move progressively through four overarching learning phases, PK to 8th grade. Click on each Unit of Instruction to learn more about the curriculum contained in the Elementary School STEM Program.

Phase 1
Foundational Fluencies

Educators mentor students to develop foundational capacities prerequisite to all STEM learning, like spatial reasoning, problem-solving, and symbolization. While many students learn these fluencies at home, this phase helps fill in critical gaps that may exist, especially for underserved students.

STEM Program Units of Instruction

Phase 2
STEM Fundamentals

Students begin exploring important STEM topics such as applied mathematics, mechanical engineering, and robotics. Students focus on intuitive STEM concepts like how to make things strong and how to make things move. As a result, kids gain confidence in their ability to use technology to design solutions to problems.

Middle School Program

STEM Curriculum

Phase 1
Applications in Design & Engineering

Students build on what they’ve learned in the Elementary School STEM program to explore concepts from their everyday world, authoring with technology to solve problems and create new solutions. Projects focus on structural & mechanical engineering as well as remote control robotics.

STEM Program Units of Instruction

Phase 2
Systems of Technology

Students learn to use multiple technologies to create system solutions. Explorations include mechanical and structural engineering, computer-aided design and 3D printing, programmable robotics, and integrated design challenges. These experiences help students increase their curiosity and confidence in STEM concepts.
