What is the STEM Access Initiative?
The STEM Access Initiative offers schools and informal education providers serving high populations of underserved students the opportunity to access a Kid Spark STEM program at a reduced cost. This program brings hands-on STEM education to elementary and middle school students, helping them build critical skills and mindsets that improve academic performance, enhance social-emotional development, and prepare them for future success in the 21st century.
Who is eligible to apply?
Eligible participants include public U.S. elementary schools, preschools, middle schools, Head Start programs, and non-profit organizations serving high populations of Title 1 students. Providers offering in-school instruction or formal afterschool and summer school programs are encouraged to apply.
While homeschools and private schools are not eligible, you are welcome to submit an application even if you’re unsure of your eligibility. We will be happy to review it and follow up with you.
What is included in a Kid Spark Program?
Kid Spark offers comprehensive Pre-K through 8th Grade STEM programs that explore a range of STEM topic areas, which can be taught in a traditional classroom setting or in an after-school setting. All Kid Spark programs include everything schools or informal learning providers need to successfully launch a STEM program, including products, curriculum, and professional development for educators.

Curriculum
A progressive, engineering and computer-science based curriculum including teacher lesson plans, student workbooks, design challenges, evaluation rubrics, interactive coding tutorials (2nd-8th Grade only), and unit assessments.
Stem Labs
Kid Spark STEM Labs feature diverse, reusable engineering and robotics materials that effortlessly cater to various STEM concepts across multiple grade levels. These materials are sturdy, user-friendly, and perfect for collaborative learning and invention.
Professional Learning
Through targeted training and support, we ensure that educators not only gain expertise but also the confidence to implement impactful STEM learning in their classrooms or informal spaces. Kid Spark is committed to ensuring ongoing program success by providing continuous support each year.
What can applicants expect during the application process?
Applicants will provide information about their school or organization, including the students they serve, grade levels, enrollment, and other details to help us understand their needs.
Our team will review each application and work with applicants to determine the most appropriate Kid Spark program and available STEM Access Initiative support. Applicants will then receive a customized proposal outlining the recommended program, any available cost assistance, and the final program investment.
How long will it take to process an application?
All applications are carefully reviewed, and we will respond within 5 business days of submission.
